Mid-week Update

Well, report cards are written, but the work does not stop! Team 24 will be busy reflecting on term 2 and preparing portfolios for Student-Led Conferences. Please hand in your child's (pink) conference time sign-up sheet ASAP! Reports go home next Wednesday, with conferences next Thursday evening and Friday morning. Be sure you check out our class science fair submission during conferences!

This week, we have also been learning about writing Story Problems in math, working on our science fair project and examining Egyptian hieroglyphics. Yesterday, students viewed a video clip about hieroglyphics. After reading a poem about hieroglyphics, we then used a virtual cartouche maker online to see what our own cartouches would look like. A cartouche is a fancy, oval nameplate which was created for kings and queens. Finally, we drew our name in hieroglyphics on our cartouches- another souvenir for our Egyptian suitcases!

Students also learned of a field trip taking place next Thursday (March 14). Field trip forms are due by Monday. There is no cost to students, but an optional $3 drink and popcorn combo is available to them. The money for the combo is also due Monday.

PLEASE be sure your child is dressing appropriately for the snowy weather. Students without ski pants are having a difficult time staying dry! Mittens are highly recommended!

See you all next week for conferences!
~Ms. Burland
