Too Much Learning Fun!

Where to begin?! Team 24 had such a fun, exciting day today! Let's start with TIA:

Harmony joined us for our third and final TIA session. We completed our amazing Bean Plant Song (which is to the tuned of So What by P!nk). We will perform our original song during our year-end Celebration of Learning!

This afternoon we explored some fruit! Yes, fruit! Some exotic and some well-known. Mr. Moffatt was pleased to hear about our field trip to Safeway and our plan to purchase various plants parts (as known as veggies) for a salad. He thought it would be great to have the students taste-test a variety of fruit. THANKS MR.MOFFATT! The activity was a hit! Students were highly-engaged and had fabulous attitudes and open minds as they tried new fruits. We began by identifying the fruits and learning the names of those unfamiliar to us. We passed them around to feel the texture and skin up close.
 Fuzzy kiwi
 Blackberries
 Apple-pear
 Pineapple
 Canary Melon
 Dragon fruit!
 Papaya
Next we headed into the staff room to cut into our fruit and taste-test! YUM! We even used very official taste-testing toothpicks!
Pineapple was a familiar fruit for everyone.
 MMMM! Blueberries
 Eating her first blackberry!
We noticed the colour and the numerous seeds, the criteria that separates fruits from veggies!
We had enough blueberries to pass around the team many times.
 An interesting discovery
Inside a canary melon, a fruit that was new to everyone
 More kiwi please!
Inside the papaya- gorgeous! There was a loud, "WOW!" said in unison when we discovered this!
Papaya was a new fruit as well for us!
It was noted that the seeds of the papaya looked like, "rabbit waste"!
A plate of goodies for Mrs. Shand and Mr. Moffatt
The most anticipated fruit to cut open!

 HERE WE GO!
 WHOA!!!
 YUM!
After trying a piece of each, we made a fruit salad with the leftovers.
 Fruit shish kebabs
A giant blueberry!

The excitement was electric today! Tomorrow will be equally exciting with a popcorn sale ($2 a bag), our field trip to Safeway, salad making and setting up for our Movie Night at 6pm for the Winnipeg Pet Rescue!

On a side note, library books are now overdue. Please return as soon as possible!

After today, students may be a little more adventurous in the produce section next time you're grocery shopping :)

Are you excited to shop for veggies at Safeway tomorrow? You will get to create your own salad! Remind me to buy croutons and cheese for our salads.
